President Donald Trump erupted<\/u><\/a> at The Wall Street Journal\u2019s editorial board recently for having written about the president having \u201cdeclared premature victory\u201d with regards to the U.S. war against Iran. <\/p> But an hour later, he appeared to undercut his own argument, prompting the Journal’s editorial board to thank him for \u201cvindicating\u201d its case.<\/p> \u201cThe Wall Street Journal, one of the worst and most inaccurate \u2018Editorial Boards\u2019 in the World, stated that I \u2018declared premature victory in Iran,\u2019\u201d Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social last Thursday. \u201cActually, it is a Victory, and there\u2019s nothing \u2018premature\u2019 about it!\u201d<\/p> Exactly 61 minutes later, however, Trump followed up his attack on the Journal\u2019s editorial board with another social media post criticizing Iran for continuing to obstruct passage through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical shipping waterway through which 20% of the world\u2019s oil trade flows.<\/p> \u201cPresident Trump is unhappy with us again, this time for saying he declared \u2018premature victory\u2019 with the terms of the Iran cease-fire,\u201d the Journal\u2019s editorial board wrote Friday in an op-ed<\/u><\/a>, noting that its writers were \u201cpleased Mr. Trump is reading us.\u201d<\/p> In response to Trump\u2019s insistence that he had not declared a \u201cpremature victory\u201d in his efforts to reopen the Strait of Hormuz to U.S.-aligned vessels \u2013 only to be immediately followed by a complaint about the strait remaining closed to U.S.-aligned vessels \u2013 the Journal\u2019s editorial board issued Trump a simple message: \u201cThanks for vindicating our editorial.\u201d<\/p>As of Sunday, peace talks between the Trump administration and Tehran have shown no progress<\/u><\/a>, and Trump escalated<\/u><\/a> the U.S. war against Iran by announcing a full U.S. Navy blockade<\/u><\/a> of the Strait of Hormuz, along with a directive targeting all ships complying with Tehran\u2019s demand for toll payments to access the critical shipping waterway.\r\n
