Vance failed to deflect from their tanking economy that is leaving working families struggling to make ends meet. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Trump and Vance promised to bring costs down on \u201cDay One,\u201d but everyday Americans are grappling with rising healthcare costs and higher prices on gas, groceries, electricity, and heating, as Trump and Vance give massive tax handouts to billionaires. <\/p>\n\n\n\n In response, DNC Rapid Response Director Kendall Witmer released the following statement: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cDonald Trump and JD Vance have sent prices soaring while slashing Americans\u2019 healthcare, and now working families in Maine are being forced to make impossible decisions about whether to fill up the tank, put food on the table, or pay for their prescriptions. Still, Trump and Vance are doubling down on their disastrous agenda and continue to wage their deadly and costly war of choice with Iran, all while they use the White House to enrich themselves and their wealthy donors. As Trump and Vance leave Mainers in the dust, Democrats will continue fighting everyday to lower costs.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Mainers are being squeezed by Trump and Vance\u2019s economy. The average Maine household has paid<\/a> nearly $2,400 in additional costs because of Trump\u2019s inflation. The average price<\/a> for a gallon of gas in Maine sits at a whopping $4.52, and the average price of diesel is $5.80 per gallon because of Trump and Vance\u2019s war with Iran. At the same time, healthcare costs are skyrocketing for Mainers because of Trump and Vance. The \u201cOne, Big Beautiful Bill\u201d could kick<\/a> 33,000 Mainers off their health insurance, and nearly<\/a> half of Maine\u2019s 24 rural hospitals are considered \u201cat risk\u201d of closing. Then, because Republicans refused to extend the enhanced ACA premium tax credits, Mainers were projected to see their premiums skyrocket by as much as 239% ($1,061)<\/a>.<\/p>\n
