New Poll: Michiganders Support Pausing Data Center Construction to Protect Water and Utility Costs<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Lawmakers have a responsibility to protect our waterways, lower our energy costs and interrogate promises from Big Tech<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

MICHIGAN<\/strong> – On Monday, a new poll released by Progress Michigan shows that Michiganders are aware of growing concerns around data center development and that a majority support pausing new construction while local governments put protections in place for residents, water resources, and local infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSaline Township is just one of many communities across Michigan that are fighting back against these behemoth data centers,\u201d said Levi Teitel, communications coordinator of Progress Michigan<\/strong>. \u201cMichiganders are asking reasonable questions about water use, rising utility bills, and what these projects actually leave behind once construction crews pack up. When local leaders take a pause to get the rules right, Michiganders support that approach. People want development that strengthens their communities, not projects that harm the environment and saddle households with higher utility costs.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n
